What is a Personal eVTOL Aircraft?
Electric Vertical Take Off & Landing (eVTOL) is your very own personal aircraft bringing a flying experience to a whole new generation.
An eVTOL personal aircraft is designed for and around you, using cutting edge electric propulsion technology for vertical takeoff, hover, transition, cruise and landing, allowing you the freedom to explore your world and expand your flying adventures. It’s an exciting new category of sport and leisure aviation designed around the user. Your very own personal flying experience.
Introducing the HayesX-250: A Different Way to Take Flight
The HayesX-250 is just such an aircraft and is built for all those who ever dreamed of flying.
Coinciding with the 250th Independence Day celebrations, the HayesX-250 is a premium personal eVTOL aircraft, fully compliant with FAA Part 103, and built with aviation grade materials. Powered by eight electric propulsion motors, it features multiple flight redundancy systems and dual-bus power architecture that independently supply all eight motors, ensuring stable output. The motors maintain the aircraft’s ability to take off vertically, hover, transition, cruise, and land with ease.
Semi-solid-state electric batteries power the personal electric aircraft. They can be charged in two different modes, fast for a 45-minute full charge or standard for a 75-minute full charge. Contingent on flight conditions, the HayesX-250 has the ability to comfortably fly for 20-25 minutes.
What makes the HayesX-250 different is not solely the way the personal eVTOL is powered, but the way its entire design is built around personal flight, using aviation grade materials.
It’s equipped with two four-axis joysticks, one on each side of the aircraft giving the pilot complete control. The left joystick controls take off and lift, and the right, forward and reverse. Featuring multiple redundancy systems and compact dimensions, the HayesX-250 makes it possible to think about transportation, sport and recreational flying in a completely different way.
Flight Without the Runway
The ability to take off vertically changes the relationship between a traditional aircraft’s speed and thrust needed to get airborne.
A conventional airplane needs a runway to build enough speed to take off and another to land. The HayesX-250 takes a different approach. Its electric motors and propellers generate the lift required to rise vertically, hover, maneuver, cruise, and return for landing.
The technology also creates a clear distinction between a personal eVTOL aircraft and a traditional helicopter. While both can take off and land vertically, the HayesX-250 uses multiple electric motors distributed throughout the aircraft rather than a conventional combustion engine driving a large overhead central rotor.
That distributed electric propulsion system is one of the defining characteristics of the eVTOL personal aircraft category.
Designed to Go With You
Personal flights have traditionally come with a significant logistical challenge: getting the aircraft to the place where you want to fly.
The HayesX-250 was designed with that challenge in mind.
Four folding arms reduce the aircraft to approximately 4.25 ft. by 8.7 ft. Park it in your garage when not in use. No need for expensive parking charges on an Airport apron. When properly secured, the aircraft can fit in the back of a pickup truck. On the ground, one person can move it independently using a small trolley.
The result is a personal aircraft designed with more than just flight in mind. Transportation, storage, preparation, and ownership are all part of the experience.
Engineering the Experience
Safety is at the core of the HayesX-250, which is not just engineered around performance. The safety of the pilot is at the center of the design.
HayesX-250 incorporates multiple layers of redundancy and safety systems, dual flight-control system, dual-bus propulsion architecture, high-strength motorsport-grade roll cage, battery firewall protection, and emergency landing capabilities.
To add to the layers of technological redundancy, a whole-aircraft ballistic parachute system can deploy from as low as 10 meters above the ground.
Structural integrity is evaluated using methods including Finite Element Analysis, dynamic load simulation, impact testing, and structural validation.
Together, these systems form part of a broader approach to personal electric aircraft safety. As always, safe operation is contingent on proper training, responsible decision-making and following all applicable operating requirements.

Do You Need a license to fly an eVTOL?
In the United States, the HayesX-250 is designed to comply with FAA 14 CFR Part 103, the federal regulations governing ultralight vehicles.
Under this US classification, a pilot license, aircraft registration, and airworthiness certificate are not required for the HayesX-250. You are however advised to check the regulations in your own country as they may vary.
The aircraft has a top speed of 63 mph and an unmanned weight of approximately 253 pounds including batteries, allowing it to be designed around the requirements of its classification.
Being able to fly without a pilot license does not mean the aircraft is designed to be flown without preparation. Before taking possession of a HayesX-250, pilots receive training and instruction on operation, maintenance, pre-flight procedures, payload requirements, folding, and storage.
What Does a Personal Electric Aerial Vehicle Cost?
You can purchase your own personal HayesX-250 for just $146,600.
Flight training is included, as are instructions on operation, pre-flight inspections and all safety features. The price reflects a premium personal aircraft built around electric propulsion, aviation-grade aluminum and carbon fiber construction, semi-solid-state batteries, eight electric motors, advanced flight-control systems, and multiple layers of integrated safety systems. (Sales tax and delivery charges not included).
The Next Chapter of Personal Aviation
For decades, the idea of personal flight has existed somewhere between science fiction and reality.
Electric propulsion is challenging the long-standing traditional conventions.
A personal eVTOL aircraft combines vertical takeoff, electric power, digital flight controls, and advanced aircraft engineering into a new category of personal aviation. The HayesX-250 brings those technologies together in a single-seat aircraft designed around the freedom of personal flight.
Eight electric motors, 63-mph top speed, approximately 20–25 minutes of flight time, foldable arms for transport and storage, and a whole-aircraft parachute system designed for low-altitude emergency protection, is revolutionizing personal aviation.
