Frequently Asked Questions

Ciaran Hayes was formerly a Chief Executive, regional airport Board Director and a Harvard University Senior Fellow. With over 20 years senior management and governing experience including sustainable transport, he has the vision, strategic management and leadership expertise to lead HayesX into the future.

Tim Hayes grew up on a number of Air Force bases. He later built his career working in the global financial industry. HayesX eVTOL democratizes flying and brings it closer home for Tim and others who always aspire to fly.  As a military brat, Tim's other passion is history, especially America military history.

HayesX is aptly based in the Mojave Desert near Las Vegas. The Mojave Desert is home to the Death Valley, the lowest elevation point in the US with a depth of 282 ft below sea level. The Mojave Desert is also the filming location of Top Gun films. It is a perfect location for the growing ultra-light aviation sector.

Las Vegas is one of the most popular destinations with over 40 million annual visitors.

Red Rock Canyon, west of Las Vegas, was formed about 200 million years ago and is unique with dramatic shapes and vivid colors. Another less known park, Valley of Fire, is our founders' favorite attraction near Las Vegas. Seeing is believing, add Valley of Fire to your list of visit.

SR-71 "Blackbird", faster than a speeding bullet, still holds the records for the world's fastest jet-propelled aircraft.

William R Hayes, the late U.S. Air Force Major General and father of our co-founder, commanded the wing that took SR-71 operational.

HayesX logo reflects our founders' Irish heritage. It is a dual effect of a flying vehicle and a swan, which was inspired from "Children of Lir", the most famous and poignant Irish folklore story of the flight of the Children of Lir. It embodies beauty, elegance and freedom.

Electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing (eVTOL) is the term ascribed to an ultralight aircraft coming under the provisions of the Federal Aviation Administration Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 103 (FAA 14 CFR Part 103), which defines ultralight vehicles as single-occupant, recreational-use aircraft weighing under 254 lbs (powered) or 155 lbs (unpowered), a top speed of 63 miles per hour. These vehicles require no pilot license, aircraft registration, or airworthiness certificates in the US. For other jurisdictions, please consult aviation regulations.

HayesX is meticulously engineered and built to fully comply with FAA 14 CFR Part 103.  It is a premium ultra-safe personal aircraft.

HayesX-250 has completed a comprehensive engineering development and verification program covering the full aircraft development lifecycle, including:

* Conceptual aircraft design

* Preliminary and overall system design

* Detailed structural and system engineering

* Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural loads and stress evaluation

* Static load testing and structural validation

* Ground testing of propulsion and control systems

* Flight control system integration and tuning

* Flight testing and performance evaluation

* Configuration verification and conformity confirmation

The development process was carried out using an engineering-oriented approach focused on controllability, structural safety, redundancy, and operational reliability.

To date, the aircraft has accumulated approximately 150 flight test hours across multiple test phases, including:

* Hover stability testing

* Low-altitude maneuver testing

* Energy consumption and endurance evaluation

* Flight control response validation

* Redundancy and emergency procedure verification

* Progressive envelope expansion flights

These tests have provided substantial operational data used to continuously optimize flight performance, flight control logic, and overall system reliability.

Up to 25 minutes. HayesX comes with semi-solid-state batteries, that can be fully charged in around 60 minutes.

Not in the US. HayesX-250 is meticulously engineered and built to fully comply with FAA 14 CFR Part 103.  Under the Part 103 ultralight aircraft classification. HayesX-250 does not require pilot certification or Private Pilot License (PPL). Flight training and operation and maintenance instructions will be provided prior to hand over of the craft.

HaysX-250 is operated by a 4-axis joystick.

Its structure follows FAA and ASTM structural load and safety standards, and all systems are built using aviation grade materials and components. Every beam and joint are precisely modeled and tested to deliver uncompromising pilot safety and structural integrity under all conditions.

In the event of a motor failure, the dual-bus powered architecture that independently supplies all eight motors ensures a stable output.

Every critical component from propulsion to control is designed with multi-layer redundancy.

The dual Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) gyroscopic system and dual-control bus

continuously cross-verify flight date in real time maintaining full flight control integrity.

In the event of a rotor or subsystem failure, the aircraft remains controllable and can

perform a safe, stable descent safeguarding the pilot under multiple operation conditions.

The integrated emergency landing control function contains radar sensors that enables stabilized descent, and auto landing in abnormal conditions.

The pilot is protected at all times by a high-strength motorsport-grade roll cage.

The design includes critical battery firewall safety and emergency power cut-off systems to isolate electrical systems during emergencies.

A ballistic parachute system can be deployed from as low as 10 meters above ground.

Applications for HayesX will continue to evolve. Some potential applications include-

SEARCH AND RESCUE

  • Save lives with an agile and quick response time.

  • Locate climbers in difficult terrain.

  • Provide early triage and emergency first aid.

AERIAL SURVEY & PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Additional tool that can be used to enhance satellite imagery and aerial photography and

  • Assist developers in maximizing the development potential of land.

AGRICULTURE

  • HayesX could be used for farm management as an aerial farmhand.

  • Quickly and easily check your herd, crops, boundary lines or fencing

A deposit of $6600 is due upon ordering to secure your order, and is refundable within six days. 50% of the total price will be due upon completion of the production. The final balance is due upon delivery. Sales tax and shipping will be billed separately as incurred. You are encouraged to visit our warehouse in Las Vegas to inspect your ordered eVTOL upon the completion of the production, and to receive a training for operating the eVTOL. The process lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. You then have an option of arranging shipping yourself or having us ship for you.

Flight simulator training will be provided prior to hand-over of the product. The hand-over includes instructions on the operation and maintenance of the HayesX, pre-flight checklist, payload requirements, folding and storage of the aircraft.

The HayesX-250 arms can be folded reducing it to a compact size of 4.25 ft by 8.7 ft to fit in the back of your truck. It will need to be anchored, and the blades strapped to protect them. Additional protection will be provided if it is anchored in a covered trailer.

It is light enough for one person to move it on the ground, or, it can be moved by a small wheeled trolley.

  • Vehicle Definition: Vehicles must be have a single seat, be under 254 lbs empty weight (powered), and have a top speed of 63mph.

  • Operating Rules:

  • Airspace: Generally restricted to uncontrolled airspace (Class G).

  • Visibility: Must maintain visual reference with the surface.

  • Congested Areas: Operations over congested areas are prohibited.

  • Right of Way: Ultralights must yield right-of-way to all other aircraft.

  • Time: Operations are limited to daylight hours.

  • Pilot Requirements: No airman certificate, license, or medical certificate is required for the operator.

  • Equipment/Registration: No FAA registration, airworthiness certificate, or inspection is required for the vehicle.

14 CFR Part 103 is the US Code of Federal Regulations, Title 14 (Federal Aviation
